Naslovni protagonist, koga tumači Alan Arkin, je nespretni francuski policijski inspektor Clouseau, a radnja prikazuje kako Inspektor Jacques Clouseau ([ʒak klu.zo]) je fiktivní postava v Blake Edwardsje fraškovitý Růžový panter série.
